Wahroonga
The original kitchen in this home was tucked away in a separate part of the house, set apart from where the family actually gathered and entertained — and it simply wasn’t working. Rather than let the existing boundaries dictate the outcome, the homeowners partnered with Nobby Kitchens and designer Anna Hosseini to relocate the kitchen entirely, bringing it into a new room at the heart of the home.
The result is a space that feels anything but a staid utility area. Warm woodgrain panelling tones beautifully with the subtle gold of a striking Calacatta benchtop, adding warmth throughout and balancing the rich, dark flooring below.
Clever planning keeps everyday clutter out of sight. A butler’s pantry handles the hard working storage yet stays open and easy to access, with no cumbersome doors, practical for cooking while remaining perfectly social for hosts who like to entertain as they prepare.
A streamlined, handleless finish on the main cabinetry gives the kitchen its clean, contemporary edge, while open shelving at the end of the island invites personal touches, the details that make the space feel like a genuine part of the home rather than just a place to cook.
Relocating the kitchen to the heart of the home turned an overlooked utility space into a warm, sociable hub finished in gold-toned Calacatta and woodgrain.
