Chiswick

Striking a fine balance between contemporary style and everyday functionality. Designed by Tom Hall from Nobby Kitchens, the Chiswick kitchen transforms what was once a dark, outdated U-shaped layout into a streamlined galley design with a central island, where bold visual contrast meets effortless modern living.

The original kitchen was dominated by teal cabinetry and heavy black granite benchtops, creating an aesthetic that no longer reflected the homeowners’ lifestyle. The brief to the Nobby Kitchens team was clear: open up the space and completely rethink the layout. The result is a kitchen that feels lighter, more connected and far more social.

By converting the U-shaped footprint into a galley island configuration, the renovation dramatically improved flow and visual connection throughout the home. The central island anchors the space, offering generous preparation area and casual seating while creating a natural gathering point for family and entertaining.

A refined light-and-dark palette defines the entire design. Polytec cabinetry introduces a sophisticated finish that balances warmth and edge, while premium Blum hardware ensures every drawer and hinge operates with seamless precision. Together, they deliver a result that feels polished without sacrificing practicality.

One of the project’s greatest challenges involved relocating plumbing through the existing cement slab floor, a complex process that required careful planning and precise execution. Despite the technical demands, the Nobby Kitchens team completed the work seamlessly, allowing the vision for the space to come to life without compromise.

A refined light and dark palette became the defining feature of the design.
