My Island Home
Defined by a large Silestone Calacatta Gold island benchtop and oozing sophistication, this kitchen is an entertainer’s delight. With a penchant for hosting culinary gatherings, the owner briefed Nobby Kitchens for an open-plan space that would accommodate delectable dinner parties and luxurious luncheons. The kitchen was designed in conjunction with a larger home renovation that saw the removal of key structural walls to open up the space. As a result, the kitchen now acts as the hub of the home, a perfect spot where the owner can entertain friends and family.
Clean lines and restrained luxury are evident and enhanced thanks to the concealment of a once-exposed beam above the kitchen. To minimise the impact the unmovable beam had on the final result, customised drawers now fit around the pillar to not only hide it, but to utilise the space.
Since the home is located near the beach, it was important the design reflected the bright and expansive setting. A mixture of white materiality and timber floors fit the bill perfectly. Complementing the white and timber palette are antique-brass Hamptons-style handles, adding warmth and charm to the kitchen set-up.
