Designed For Better Functionality of Space
In a house in Sydney’s North Rocks, a kitchen redesign came with some interesting challenges. The kitchen was located under a mezzanine- level stairway with exposed structural beams, which had to be incorporated so they looked less structural and more decorative. With Nobby Kitchens designer John Barton at the helm, there was also a need to better maximise the space. Homeowners Garry and Angela Ricardo wanted better storage options, so John created a walk-in pantry under the existing stairway. He also utilised an appliance cupboard for further storage. As well as disguising the beams, air conditioning and extractor ducting, the aim was to freshen up the space.
For the cabinet doors and matching panels, a combination of timber and solid-colour laminates from Polytec’s Ravine colour range, such as the rich Café Oak and Laminex’s Moleskin, was used for a natural aesthetic. TANDEMBOX drawers from Blum allow for further pantry storage. The Caesarstone Shitake benchtop retains the classic look and feel of limestone with a colour that complements the cabinetry.
The end result is a kitchen that not only looks modern, but is now also more spacious and functional for this family home.
